2025 - What's New
I've been working on a plan, last year was year 1 of what I see as a 3+ year plan to get a Nutrition and Coaching business off of the ground. Maybe it will always be a passion project and something I do because I enjoy it on the side, maybe it could be more… My last post recapped the year relatively briefly and I think from a coaching view point it was relatively successful, I learnt a lot and have been upgrading my skill set. What does 2025 look like for A-Crew Coaching then?
By the end of January I will have my Personal Training Level 3 qualification wrapped up and maybe more importantly, certainly more excitingly, will be a qualified nutritionist. For me that is a critical step in the plan.
By the end of January this will rebrand to A-crew Nutrition and Coaching.
I don't think I ever explained why I called it A-crew… Well it's because of my rowing background, it's something that I created when I was a rowing coach (a previous life and I was coaching at Oxford University for a couple of different colleges). I have kept it now for two reasons, firstly because of the throw back and secondly the A-crew is always the best crew from a club or squad so my thought process is that by 'Joining A-crew' you are joining the best crew around. It's a bit cheesy, but I like it.
So by the end of January nutritional advice will be something I will be offering and I have to admit, I am really excited about it. Stay tuned a bit more for what that will look like. You see a lot of people leaving the gym floor to become online PT's and whilst that is an element of my business plan, especially for the nutrition part, I have absolutely no plans on leaving the CrossFit coaching floor. Why? Because I really enjoy it, I get better and better at it the more I coach, it's fantastic for my mental health and it keeps me learning and connected to people (something I think is a fundamental part of the human experience). That means I am going to be pretty busy, Crossfit coaching, In person and online Nutrition advice, maybe some personal training (certainly an online PT and Nutrition combo offer), my own training (getting this wrist better and the small matter of a 1/2 Iron Man) oh and not forgetting being a good partner, dog dad and yea, the full time 9-5 job as well.
So January is about finishing off some qualifications then getting the Nutrition side set up and then I have a 3 week Honeymoon in March. When I am back from there it is hopefully time, in April to kick things up a notch or two on that front and try to establish the business, starting small and then building from there.
My goals, from a coaching perspective are then pretty simple:
Finish the Nutrition and Personal Training qualifications
Set up A-Crew Nutrition & Coaching
Start giving Nutrition advice (and some personal training) whilst continuing to learn and develop as a CrossFit Coach.
Build the business sustainably
If time allows complete an Strength and Conditioning course (part of the longer term plan is to be able to work with different sports teams and that is a vital qualification to hold for that aspect).
Let's go!!
Andy
