(Re)Introduction to A-Crew Coaching & Nutrition

Welcome - or welcome back, to those who have been following for a while. It's hard to believe that it’s been nearly two years since I completed my CrossFit Level 1 qualification and stepped back into coaching after a long hiatus. In that time, my confidence has grown massively, and I’ve been warmly welcomed by members, clients, and colleagues alike. Since then, I’ve also upped my game from a qualifications standpoint. Solidifying and building on my previous knowledge base and gaining Nutrition and Personal Training qualifications.

With that, there have been some changes that have brought me to where I am today. A-Crew is ramping up and formalising what we do, so I thought it would be a good idea to both re-introduce myself and explain what A-Crew Coaching & Nutrition is and who we’re here to help.

Who Am I?

I'm Andy. Outside of coaching, I simply love sport, the outdoors, and being active. In a previous life, rowing was my main sport, I even competed in U23 Lightweight trials and coached a number of high-level athletes. Any dreams of becoming a professional athlete or rowing coach faded many years ago, so now my aim is simple: to be as fit and healthy as possible, for as long as possible, while enjoying life.

I always come back to something I wrote in a previous blog: "What's the point in being fit and healthy if you're not going to use it?" For me, that means being able to say yes to challenges when they come along. Want to go open-water swimming? Cycling? Mountain running? Kayaking? As long as I can keep saying yes to these things, I'm happy. That’s one of the main things I want to help others do as well. That doesn't mean I won’t take on some big challenges myself—Ironman 2026 is on!

I love coaching. Being back in this role is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done, and it means I’ll do everything I can to help people find success, whatever that looks like for you personally.

Who Is A-Crew For?

Our aim here is simple, to help people achieve their performance, health and fitness goals whilst living happy, active and long lives. With that we appreciate that everyone's health and fitness journey is different, there is no one size fits all solution when it comes to the best way to achieve that.

Given that I would say that we’re here for two types of people primarily:

  1. Athletes – Those who want to really dial in their performance. That could mean gaining control over their nutrition and linking it with smart training to maximise the results of their hard work.

  2. Health- Focused Individuals - People who are ready to make a long term commitment to their health, whether that’s losing weight, gaining muscle, or just feeling better and healthier in themselves.

While it's harder to measure the subjective feeling of "feeling better," it’s honestly one of the best outcomes we can deliver. When we hear phrases like “I feel so much better” or “I feel less fatigued,” it’s the most rewarding feedback we get.

One thing A-Crew will never do is support crash diets or excessive overeating to gain or lose weight in unsustainable ways. For that reason, I fully appreciate that we might not be the right fit for everyone.

What Are Our Principles?

  1. Honesty & Transparency – Exactly what it says on the tin. From the moment you connect with A-Crew, you’ll get honest and transparent advice, without surprises (though hopefully with a few pleasant ones!).

  2. Longevity – If you want to get the most from your training and/or build lifelong habits, and if you’re aiming for a balanced, healthy life built for the long haul, this is the place for you.

  3. Personability – You are your unique self. We don’t just accept that, we celebrate it. Every plan is tailored specifically to you and your needs.

  4. Quality – We back our reputation and track record by providing high-end nutritional guidance, conditioning training, and sustainable habits for a healthy life.

  5. Support – Change is hard. With over 10 years of experience managing change across various industries, we know how to support you through your personal transformation journey.

Pushing the new website live is a genuinely scary moment for me on a personal level. On one hand, it marks the culmination of a huge amount of hard work. On the other hand, it’s just the beginning… an evolution, an upgrade. The end of one stage and the start of another.

Yes, I still worry about what people will think or say. I still fear failure in some ways. But those are the same feelings I had when I first started and they continue to push me to be better. Ultimately, if I stick to A-Crew’s principles, apply everything I’ve learned, and keep delivering on the promises I make, then this will succeed. And as A-Crew continues to grow, we will help change and support the lives of every person who puts their trust in us - That is something I wholeheartedly believe.

If you have questions or want to connect in any way, please reach out here.

Looking forward to talking and seeing you soon.

Andy
